  A popular annual event, this competition is aimed at young professional Chefs (21 and under) who are keen to demonstrate their abilities. There will be three heats of chefs cooking two courses in 1.5 hour sessions.
One winner from each heat will be invited back for the final on Sunday 28th at 10am. Apart from the title, Young Chef of the Year, the winner will hold the coveted Jamie Parker Trophy for the year.

  Children in schools around York have worked with Julian Davies of Stockbridge, to learn about the environment and grow their own vegetables. Today, together with Chef and Festival Director, Michael Hjort, the children will be shown how to transform their home grown veg into a tasty meal.

  In this special 1.5hr workshop, Peter will explain how to prepare fish from beginning to end. You will make a parcel of Pickering trout with fennel and filo pastry.

    Fi Brid of Stirrin' Stuff is a firm favourtie with school's at York Food Festival. Fi teaches about healthy eating in all of her demonstrations and points out, in language that the children understand, just why it is so important to at least try and eat the 'icky green stuff'
Over 200 Chilren will cook with Fi in the Guildhall today.
       
             
23.09.08   Un-Fairtrade Game   York MInster   by invitation
  Students from York and North Yorkshire Secondary schools have been invited to York Minster to play the Unfairtrade Business Game.
The game is designed to introduce students to the concept of trading in a world-wide market. They will learn first hand that through no fault of their own, the rules of the game can change and they can be in an unfair and unsustainable business position - like many third worls countries.

  Visit York Designer Outlet between 6pm and 8pm and be dazzled by a cocktail demonstration produced by the LivingRoom.
Firm favourites with York Food Festival the Living Room provide a daily demo of different cocktails but for those of us who are normally working through the day, this is the perfect opportunity to taste the fun!

    With so many workshops aimed at young children, the Festival felt it was time to have workshops for our teenagers and the Army, based at Imphal Barracks, have kindly agreed to come a second year running and run two consecutuve days of Workshops for students.

One of the biggest fundraising events in the UK, with an estimated 2 million people raising their mugs for Macmillan last year and with your help we aim to raise over £8.5 million for people affected by cancer.
